#Model claims to have been forced to wear used mask on Ryanair flight

A 26-year-old British model claims she was forced to put on a used mask aboard a Ryanair flight after she was banned from wearing one a fashion designer pal had designed, according to a report.

Bluebell Wooi, who boarded the plane in Calabria, Italy, for a flight to London on Tuesday, was wearing the fashionable face covering, but was told she had to use a disposable mask, The Sun reported.

When she told the flight attendant that she didn’t have one, she was told to ask other passengers for a spare, according to the outlet.

Wooi told the crew that the only one she managed to find was soiled and had been used by the man who handed it to her – but was told she had to wear it if she wanted to fly.

“It was dirty and I really didn’t want to. I showed it to the Ryanair staff and was told I must wear that mask over my own,” she told The Sun.

“I just think it’s completely bonkers. It doesn’t make any sense to wear a mask used by a stranger over my own reusable one,” she said.

“And to make things even more bonkers, all the cabin crew onboard the flight were wearing reusable masks themselves, so I don’t know what it was all about.”

The airline has warned passengers that surgical face masks must be worn on flights to or from Italy, The Sun reported.

Bluebell, who was traveling on the budget airline with her 72-year-old grandmother, added: “No one else seemed to be told to put on another mask as far as I could see other than the man in front of me.

“I don’t know if there was some kind of memo I missed about wearing a disposable mask over a reusable one, but if there was one, I didn’t receive it,” she said.

A Ryanair rep told the outlet: “In line with the requirements set out in the Italian Decree, DCPM N.15, 7 Aug, the use of surgical face masks is mandatory on all flights to, from and within Italy.

“Customers are informed of this requirement by email and SMS ahead of their journey, as failure to comply can result in passengers being denied boarding,” the spokesperson added.
