#Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Steps from Buffalo Bills’ Stadium

A 65-year-old man is dead after he was struck and killed by a car around the time of the Buffalo Bills game on Monday night.

The Rochester, N.Y., resident was found laying in the street outside Highmark Stadium at 8:19 p.m. last night, according to a press release from the Orchard Park Police Department. At the time, the Bills and Denver Broncos were on the field for a game inside the stadium.

Authorities responded to a call of a pedestrian stuck by a vehicle, and witnesses reported having seen a vehicle hit the man and speed off, away from the victim.

First responders on site performed “lifesaving medical care” on the victim before he was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was soon pronounced dead, according to police. His name has not been released publicly.

The vehicle that one bystander identified as the suspect who hit and killed the man was later located by police. The investigation is ongoing.

In a separate incident, a 36-year-old man was hit by a car about a mile north of the Bills’ Highmark Stadium around 10 p.m., police said. The driver did not flee the scene, and “cooperated” with authorities who were responding to the incident, the police press release said.

The Buffalo man was transported to a nearby hospital with “serious injuries,” and an investigation by police determined that he had been crossing the road despite the driver having the right of way when he was struck.

Between the two separate vehicle-related incidents, roads around the Bills’ stadium were closed for roughly three hours, but by the time the game ended, all road closures had been lifted.
