Kena: Bridge of Spirits is an upcoming third-person action-adventure game in development at Ember Lab. It is all set to release on 21st September 2021 on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The game will follow Kena, who uses her magical abilities to help deceased people move from the physical to the spirit world.

It would be a combination of an emotional narrative mixed with blood-pumping action, and fans can’t seem to wait anymore. It’s just a matter of a week now before its release but if you are too eager to know more, this article will help you out. Today, we’ll be informing you about all the main characters which we know are going to appear in the game. So, without further ado, let’s begin.

Kena (Ayu Larassanti)

This is as obvious as night and day are. After all, Kena is the titular as well as the lead character of the game. Kena is a young spirit guide who is tasked with collecting small spirit companions known as the Rot. These Rots help to complete tasks and battle against enemies. Kena is voiced by Ayu Larassanti, who is a Balinese musician and dancer.

Kena’s magical abilities can be used to combat terrifying darkness. One can use Kena’s staff for attacking enemies, and her pulse ability for defending against attacks. Players can also activate her Pulse ability which creates a shield and blocks enemies’ attacks.

Saiya and Beni (Sam Cavallaro)

As the game progresses, players will find themselves searching for the Sacred Mountain Shrine monument. During this search, Kena will come across two young children in the forest named Beni and Saiya. They will ask Kena to help them find their teenage brother Taro, who is a restless spirit stuck between the worlds.

Unfortunately, not much information is available about the two brothers as of now, but we can hope that they will be a part of the larger narrative as well. Both Beni and Saiya are voiced by Sam Cavallaro, a very young voice actor.

Taro (Tod Fennell)

As mentioned above, Taro is the teenage brother of Beni and Saiya. He has a restless spirit and needs to move from the physical world to the spiritual one. When Kena will first encounters Taro, he will be a hostile spirit who she’ll have to defeat, for him to reveal his true self. After that Kena will be tasked with helping the spirit to move on.

Taro is voiced by Tod Fennell, a Canadian voice actor who has worked on projects like Far Cry: New Dawn and Monster Hunter Stories 2. “Every spirit in the game has two forms. So, when you beat Taro’s boss, you will then get to see him as he truly is, and he will explain all [his] pain and suffering to you”, explained Tod.

Toshi (Masashi Odate)

Like Taro, Toshi was also unveiled during the Kena: Bridge of Spirits gameplay trailer. Toshi is one of the trapped spirits you will encounter on your journey with Kena. He might be linked to the tragedy that left the village abandoned in the first place and kicked off the game. He is voiced by Masashi Odate, who is an actor, known for The Last Samurai (2003) and Dragonball Evolution (2009).

Rusu (Alan Adelberg)

Rusu is a huntsman that will help guide Kena on her journey as a mentor. He will teach her important survival skills and offer insight into the abandoned village. Rusu also made an appearance in the gameplay trailer for Kena: Bridge of Spirits. He will be voiced by Alan Adelberg, who has previously worked in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, and Fire Emblem Heroes.

The Village Elder (Vlasta Vrana)

Veteran Actor Vlasta Vrana

The Village Elder is thought to be the character narrating in the trailers. There is no other information available about him at this point in time. He will be voiced by Vlasta Vrana, who is a Canadian actor of Czech descent and has appeared in an uncountable number of films and TV shows.

The Rot

The Rots are cute little creatures that will join you throughout Kena’s journey. They will assist her in battle and transform the environment to reach new areas to move forward. Rot is actually timid and elusive spirits who maintain balance in the forest. You will also be able to unlock cosmetic hats to customize each Rot according to your likings.

Corrupt Spirits

Every game needs a set of standard enemies who act as hindrances in your progress. Kena: Bridge of Spirits will feature some variations of corrupted spirits, which you’ll have to battle from time to time. These spirits might be a lost cause and irredeemable, so you might have to just kill them. It’s possible that you’ll gain XP’s from defeating them like most games out there.
