#My Hero Academia To Get Live-Action Adaptation From Alice in Borderland Director

Kōhei Horikoshi‘s My Hero Academia manga is getting a live-action adaptation helmed by Kingdom and Alice in Borderland‘s Shinsuke Sato.

As Variety reports, Sato, who also directed live-action adaptations of Bleach and Inuyashiki, is directing the live-action My Hero Academia show for Legendary. It will be in English.

The My Hero Academia manga began in 2014 and has 31 tankōbon volumes as of August 2021. The superhero shōnen series won the Sugoi Japan Award and the Japan Expo Awards’ Daruma Award in 2017.

An anime series adaptation produced by Bones began in 2016 and is still ongoing. My Hero Academia has also inspired spin-off manga and novels, three anime movies, and video games.

Viz describes the manga as:

Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all, gives him a chance to change his destiny…
