#Lycoris Recoil Welcomes Spring With New Chisato x Takina Illustration

The LycoReco Cafe X (formerly Twitter) account has made its first post since December 2023 by sharing a Spring-themed illustration of Lycoris Recoil heroines Chisato Nishikigi and Takina Inoue.

The illustration places Chisato and Takina in the midst of sakura trees in bloom, the two partners sharing the same seat. While Takina gazes off into the distance with a cup of coffee in her hands, Chisato has dozed off and rested her head on Takina’s shoulder.

The Lycoris Recoil original anime aired in the Summer 2022 anime season and ran for 13 episodes, with Crunchyroll and Bilibili streaming overseas. A new anime project was announced in February 2023. Crunchyroll describes the plot as:

For these peaceful days――there’s a secret behind it all. A secret organization that prevents crimes: “DA – Direct Attack”. And their group of all-girl agents: “Lycoris”. This peaceful everyday life is all thanks to these young girls. The elite Chisato Nishikigi is the strongest Lycoris agent of all time. Alongside is Takina Inoue, the talented but mysterious Lycoris. They work together at one of its branches–Café LycoReco. Here, the orders this café takes range from coffee and sweets to childcare, shopping, teaching Japanese to foreign students, etc. It’s mostly tasks unbefitting of Lycoris. The free-spirited and optimistic pacifist, Chisato. And the cool-headed and efficient Takina. The chaotic everyday lives of this mismatched duo begin!

Shingo Adachi (Sword Art Online and WORKING!! character designer) directed the show at A-1 Pictures and was also its series composer. Other main staff include Imigimuru (This Art Club Has a Problem! mangaka) as character designer, Yuusuke Maruyama (Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon: The Second Act opening director and storyboarder) as assistant director, Kenji Sawada (Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie co-main animator) as weapon and action supervisor, and Yumiko Yamamoto (Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld co-character designer) as sub-character designer. Asaura (Shousetsu Knights of Sidonia: Kitto Arifureta Koi author) wrote the early story drafts for the anime.

The cast includes Chika Anzai as Chisato, Shion Wakayama as Takina, Ami Koshimizu as Mizuki Nakahara,  Misaki Kuno as Kurumi, and Kosuke Sakaki as Mika.

The girls-with-guns anime has also inspired two light novels, a manga adaptation, a manga spin-off, a manga anthology, and a stage play.
