# Final Fantasy XVI – painting-style trailer, day one update announced

Square Enix has released a new trailer for Final Fantasy XVI depicting the characters and world in the style of a painting.

Additionally, the company announced during the Final Fantasy XVI Pre-Launch Celebration live stream that digital billboards will be on display in Shibuya, Osaka, and Fukuoka starting June 19, as well as a special 3D advertisement on the Cross Shinjuku Vision billboard starting the same day.

Finally, the company announced that, despite working hard to not require a day one update, a small update approximately 300 megabytes in size will be released prior to launch on June 20. It will contain the following fixes and optimizations:

  • Fixes a control flag issue which can make progress impossible under very specific circumstances.
  • Fixes an issue wherein the game could close unexpectedly under very specific circumstances.
  • Optimizes performance in several places.
  • Fixes some minor text issues.

Producer Naoki Yoshida also mentioned that Final Fantasy XVI was initially planned to ship on two discs. But about six months before release, the development team thought they might be able to fit everything on one disc, so in order to avoid the increased production costs and premature mastering that shipping on two discs would have led to, they somehow just barely managed to fit everything on a single disc.

Final Fantasy XVI is due out for PlayStation 5 on June 22 worldwide.
