#Other Places You’ve Seen the Cast

“Other Places You’ve Seen the Cast”

Queer as Folk was first a 1999 British TV series that follows the lives of Stuart, Vince, and Nathan, three gay men set in Machester’s gay village. The series received a great deal of praise and was nominated for Best Drama Serial at the Royal Television Society Awards. The Guardian even placed Queer as Folk on The Top 50 TV Dramas of All time, falling at number 13. Soon after, an American remake was released and became one of the best LGBTQ+ tv shows during its time. The show’s popularity and following has spawned a newly confirmed reboot set in New Orleans.

Since the announcement of the Queer as Folk reboot, many have speculated a great deal about the series. While not much has been released about the overall plot, many members of the cast have been revealed, with quite a few of them only having a few roles in the past. Since filming began in mid-2021, the Queer as Folk reboot is expected to be released in the Spring 2022. Until its release, here are other places to see the cast of the new Queer as Folk.

Fin Argus

At the young age of 23, Fin Argus has managed to snag a role in the reboot as a cocky high-schooler. Fin Argus’ career is still new, so his filmography is somewhat limited. That said, a few places you may have seen him is the Disney+ teen biopic Clouds based on the memoir Fly a Little Higher: How God Answered a Mom’s Small Prayer in a Big Way. Argus plays the role of Zach Sobiech, a teen with osteosarcoma who follows his dream of becoming a musician. While Clouds is Argus’ breakout role, another notable role of Argus is that of Josh in Summer ‘03, though he went uncredited. It’s safe to say that Argus’ upcoming role in the Queer as Folk reboot is only going to improve his career.

Jesse James Keitel

Non-binary actor Jesse James Keitel has recently been in the limelight for their role in Big Sky. Jesse James Keitel made their breakthrough in Miller and Son, a live-action a short film that explores life within the transgender mechanics. Miller and Son won the BAFTA Student Film Award for Best Live Action. This led to Keitel gaining more attention as an up-and-coming actor in the LGBTQ+ community, eventually gaining them their first lead role in Big Sky. The show has come under scrutiny for cultural insensitivity of the Missing Indigenous Women & Girls movement despite having no tribal representation in the show. Keitel is the very first non-binary actor to play a non-binary series regular in Big Sky and was the first cast member announced as a part of the Queer as Folk reboot.

Candace Grace

Yet another actor to be added to the Queer as Folk reboot roster is Candace Grace. A New Orleans native, Grace is set to play a non-binary professor who is struggling with modern difficulties of parenthood. Grace has only been in one prior work, the ABC drama pilot Acts of Crime in which they played Black Police detective Vivien Lamonte working homicide in New Jersey. Grace’s character was once on the wrong side of the law, but decided to turn it around and become a member of law enforcement. Unfortunately, ABC made the decision not to move forwards with Acts of Crime, but we still have Grace’s performance in Queer as Folk to look forward to.

Devin Way

Known for appearances in Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Blake Simms, Tom Koracick’s surgical resident who was badly injured in the bar crash at Joe’s bar, Devin Way was relatively unknown before his appearance on ABC’s long-running medical drama, but his performance obviously gained him the attention of the Queer as Folk producers. Way is another addition to the Queer as Folk cast, set to play a charming commitment-phobe who finds a reason to stay in New Orleans after a community tragedy. It’s not clear what Way’s role will be in the show as whole, but we do know he will be a part of the regular cast of the reboot.

Johnny Sibilly

Johnny Sibilly has appeared in a number of TV series over the years with special attention to his role in Pose, an LGBTQ+ series revolving around the drag ball culture scene in the late 80s and early 90s, and Hacks, a series about the professional relationship between a young comedy writer and a legendary comedienne. Hacks became critically acclaimed and even received two Primetime Emmy Awards, among the many accolades it was additionally nominated for. After starring in a show so profoundly revered, it only makes sense that the Queer as Folk producers would choose Sibilly to play a successful lawyer who is not what he appears to be.

Kim Cattrall

Unlike many of the names you may see on this list, Kim Cattrall may be one you recognize the most. Known for her role as Samantha Jones in HBO’s Sex & the City franchise, Cattrall is an award-winning actress with decades of experience under her belt and a number of other appearances in films like Mannequin, The Ghost Writer, and Above Suspicion. It may seem odd to see her amongst this line-up of fresh new faces, but it’s also nice to see that the Queer as Folk reboot is adding a veteran actress to the roster. Cattrall is set to star in a recurring role as a Southern debutante from the Trailer Park who likes her liquor.

Armand Fields

Actor and professional drag queen Armand Fields is set to join the Queer as Folk reboot as the reigning drag queen and head of the New Orleans drag scene. Fields has made appearances on TV before, including the hit show Work in Progress, which examines the hardships of LGBTQ+ life, the difficulties faced by those with mental illness, and where sexuality and mental health intersect. Fields plays the role of King and while his role may not be huge, we can expect to see more from him in the Queer as Folk reboot as a shining drag queen.
