“LA County Sheriff Department deputies, doctor survive helicopter crash”

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department rescue helicopter crashed Saturday afternoon while responding to a call — but everyone aboard miraculously survived.

The chopper, carrying five deputies and a doctor, went down in the San Gabriel Mountains just before 5 p.m. local time, according to the Los Angeles Times.

All six passengers were reportedly taken to a hospital for treatment.

“They are in stable condition, some more banged up than others, but thankful to be alive,” Sheriff Alex Villanueva reportedly said.

The outcome was “nothing short of a miracle,” he said.

The rescue helicopter had been dispatched to airlift a passenger that was injured in a car accident, according to the article.

The crew had “saved thousands of lives over the years” navigating the county’s narrow canyons and tough topography, the sheriff reportedly said.

It was unclear what led to the crash.
