Ice Spice and Lil Tjay have joined forces on a new single called “Gangsta Boo,” which finds the New York youngsters flipping one of Diddy‘s biggest hits — check it out below.

The song is featured on Spice’s new EP Like..?, which was released on Friday (January 20). Over a sample of Puff’s 2002 “I Need a Girl (Part 2)” collaboration with Ginuwine, Loon, Mario Winans and Tammy Ruggieri, the curly-haired Bronx native yearns for her “gangsta boo.”

“I’m a fan but I’m keepin’ my cool/ And I like it when you call me boo/ Bae, I just wanna do what you do/ Fuck your thots, I’m takin’ they spot/ Bitches know that I am what they not/ I’ma help you get back at the opps/ They cannot come when we spinnin’ they block,” Spice raps.

Tjay follows right behind her with a verse asserting his status as a gangsta lover and how he takes care of his woman. However, he also reminds his opps that he’s not one to play with.

“I don’t think you should play with me/ ‘Cause you gon’ end up like the last opp/ I’m a thug off some drugs in my home/ And say, long before rap, I was playin’ the back box/ I don’t know if I’m high or just too bopped/ But your shit look like you got ass shots/ Treat that bitch like the opps,” he spits.

The song arrives just weeks after the death of Gangsta Boo, and while it shares the same name as the late Memphis rap legend, Ice Spice revealed in an interview with Apple Music’s Ebro Darden that she recorded it prior to her untimely passing.

“I made the song, and then I was just thinking who I would hear on it really,” she said. “But I wanted it to be a real genuine collab, you feel me? [Tjay and I] have been friends since last year, so I was just like, yeah, who better than him? We both from the Bronx.”

She added: “I made the song before [Gangsta Boo] passed. Right before, actually. So, yeah. That was real sad, very exact coincidence.”

A music video for the song was scheduled to be filmed in New York City earlier this week, until Lil Tjay was arrested en route to the shoot. Police discovered several loaded handguns in his Cadillac Escalade and charged the 21-year-old with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was later released on a $90,000 bond.

According to a criminal complaint, Tjay’s SUV was pulled over because it was idling in a no-standing zone. The rapper’s attorney Dawn Florio, however, claimed the car was parked legally on the street and the guns do not belong to her client. She also accused the NYPD of targeting Tjay after he posted about the video shoot on social media.

“Gangsta Boo” is one of a handful of new tracks featured on Ice Spice’s Like..? EP alongside “Princess Diana” and the Jersey Club-inspired “Actin’ a Smoochie.” The six-track project is also home to her previously released hits “Munch (Feelin’ U),” “Bikini Bottom” and “In Ha Mood.”
