The upcoming Aretha Franklin biopic RESPECT has been pushed back from its original release date, according to Deadline. The Jennifer Hudson–starring film was previously set for release on Christmas Day with a wide release in January 2021, but will now debut seven months later in August 2021. RESPECT also features Mary J. Blige, Marc Maron, Marlon Wayans, and more. Watch the teaser trailer below.

Aretha Franklin died in August 2018. Cynthia Erivo is also set to portray Franklin in the upcoming National Geographic series Genius: Aretha, which was postponed after production was suspended due to health concerns around coronavirus in March.
