#Bronx mom sentenced for hiring hitman to kill son’s romantic rival

A Bronx mom was sentenced to up to seven years in prison in a murder-for-hire plot to kill her son’s romantic rival so he wouldn’t testify about her son allegedly shooting him, officials announced Wednesday.

Annette Spann copped to a conspiracy charge for hiring a hitman — actually an undercover cop — for $1,000 on Nov. 14 to whack a 20-year-old victim whom her son, Candido Lizarro, was accused of shooting six times, the Bronx District Attorney’s Office said.

The 45-year-old mom — who pleaded guilty on March 26 — was sentenced to 2 1/3 to 7 years in prison by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Robert Neary in a video hearing Wednesday. She will receive seven months’ credit toward her sentence after having been held in Rikers since her Nov. 22 arrest, the DA’s office said.

The 26-year-old son allegedly shot his neighbor following a spat the pair had in their Bronx apartment building over a woman on Sept. 2, sources said at the time.

Fearing the victim would recover — which he eventually did — Lizarro allegedly went on the lam and enlisted his mom to help kill his victim, prosecutors have said.

Lizarro was picked up in Florida on Dec. 11 and extradited to the Bronx, where his case is still pending, the office said.

Lizarro is being held without bail, according to court records.

“The defendant, a Bronx mother whose son allegedly shot a man, hired a hitman to finish the job,” DA Darcel Clark said in a statement. “The defendant will now go to prison for trying to end someone’s life and for trying to subvert the criminal justice system.”

Spann’s lawyer, Kyle Watters, told The Post that his client “expressed today that she is remorseful and she got tied up in something where she was trying to help her son and she behaved badly and feels bad about it.

“She said she wants to pay her debt, do her time and get out and get her life back on track.”
