#Pokémon TCG Illustration Contest 2022 Open to US Entries

If you’re an artist and Pokémon fan, Creatures Inc.’s Pokémon Trading Card Game has an opportunity for you. For the past few years, the company has held a Pokémon Card Game Illustration Grand Prix contest in Japan, and this year’s event marks the first time for it to be open to artists in the United States.

 

The theme at the core of this year’s contest is a moment in a Pokémon’s daily life, so consider that the drawing prompt for those eager to enter. Thankfully, the prize isn’t just “exposure” and the ability to get your art featured on a promo card. The Grand Prize also includes a cash value of $5,000.

 

The two first runner-ups from Japan and the US will get a cash value of $3,000 and their art made into a promo card, and the two second runner-ups will get a cash value of $1,000. Finally, 15 entrants will be selected as Judges’ Award Winners from either Japan or the US and will get a cash value of $500.

Judges for the contest include The Pokémon Company president Tsunekazu Ishihara, Creatures Inc. president Hirokazu Tanaka, The Pokémon Company International president Kenji Okubo, Creatures Inc. senior executive director Yuji Kitano, Creatures Inc art director Satoru Nagaya, Creatures Inc executive director/CG studio art director Atsuko Ujiie, and a trio of Pokémon TCG illustrators: Kouki Saitou, Tomokazu Komiya, and AKIRA EGAWA

 

Limited to Japan and the US, the contest runs from October 13, 2021 at 8:00pm PT to January 31, 2022 at 6:59pm PT
