President Trump responded to a tweet by Mayor Bill de Blasio urging people to enjoy a “beautiful Saturday” — by warning that New Yorkers don’t want to be “killed.”

“But people don’t want to get mugged, beaten up, or killed. Let New York’s Finest (who proudly endorsed me!) do their job. Rehire crime squad and fired police. They will bring safety back to NYC, FAST!!!” the president wrote on Twitter Sunday.

It linked to a posting from Hizzoner that New Yorkers should enjoy the weather on Saturday but be mindful of safety precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

“It’s a beautiful Saturday, New York City. Get out and enjoy it, but don’t forget we’re fighting back against COVID-19. Wear your face covering. Practice social distancing,” the mayor said.

The president has been slamming de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo over their handling of the virus.

Last week, he focused on their decision to finally begin opening Big Apple restaurants for indoor dining with restrictions, saying the two were “destroying the city” by prolonging the shutdown.
