#NYC mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa drops $250K on Spanish TV ads

Hola!

New York City’s GOP mayoral hopeful Curtis Sliwa is finally hitting the airwaves next week with a $250,000 television ad buy focusing entirely on Spanish language New Yorkers.

“We believe that the Latino vote is going to be extremely important in this election. It’s growing larger and larger than ever before and Curtis has a following among folks of Spanish speaking heritage,” campaign senior advisor Rob Cole told The Post.

The ads, which will air on both cable and broadcast stations, will land on city televisions Tuesday and run for two weeks. English language ads are also planned.

The burst onto television comes as the chronically underfunded Sliwa campaign looks to make a sprint to the finish, after he finally received city public matching funds on Thursday.

“My campaign has received $2.6 million in public matching funds, adding to my campaign’s momentum,” Sliwa said Thursday. “Now, I am challenging Eric Adams to a September debate. Let’s give the voters what they deserve: real debate about our City’s future!”

With the cash also comes the near certainty of at least two television debates between Sliwa and Adams, his Democratic rival, who also received another $1,952,004 from the city Campaign Finance Board this week.

Adams remains the overwhelming general election favorite in deep blue NYC, after narrowly winning the Democratic primary in June.
