Gangsta Boo‘s funeral and memorial service have been announced following her death earlier this month.

Producer and fellow Memphis, Tennessee native Drumma Boy took to Instagram on Sunday (January 8) to reveal details about how the late Three 6 Mafia rapper will be remembered.

A celebration of life will take place in her native Memphis on January 13 at Railgarten on Central Avenue, followed by a funeral service at Brown Baptist Church on Stateline Road in Southaven, Mississippi on January 14.

“Been a rough 2023 so far but i know you are finally at peace…” Drumma Boy wrote in the caption. “Let us come together as we celebrate our legendary queen, sister, & friend! Thank you @missyeahoe for blessing us with your presence!”

Gangsta Boo (real name Lola Chantrelle Mitchell) passed away on January 1 at the age of 43. According to FOX 13 Memphis, she was found dead at around 4:00 p.m. in a neighborhood west of Memphis International Airport, although no cause of death has been disclosed.

In a recently aired interview with WREG Memphis, loved ones said Gangsta Boo didn’t die “as a result of foul play,” with close friend Delmar Lawrence revealing she had many plans in the works despite struggling with her father’s death.

“She loved what she wanted to do, she had so many plans, so many dreams about what she wanted to do for 2023. I mean, she told me about ’em three days ago,” Lawrence said. “She lost her father and that was a very big blow for her. She was a daddy’s girl and it was many nights I prayed with her and just talked her through her grief. So I’m glad to know she’s at peace.”

He added: “The world only knew her gift. They didn’t know her heart, and she had the biggest heart and loved very hard, and her friends and family who know her they know that…”

Gangsta Boo joined Three 6 Mafia in 1994 when she was just 15 and appeared on the group’s first five albums, Mystic Stylez (1995), Chapter. 1: The End (1996), Chapter 2: World Domination (1997), When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1 (2000) and Choices: The Album (2001).

She also released a series of solo projects — including the albums Enquiring Minds (1998), Both Worlds *69 (2001) and Enquiring Minds II: The Soap Opera (2003) — while collaborating with the likes of Outkast, Run The Jewels, E-40, Gucci Mane and T.I.
