#Nick Castle Teases Halloween Ends Will Have a ‘Surprising’ Story and Unexpected Ending

“Nick Castle Teases Halloween Ends Will Have a ‘Surprising’ Story and Unexpected Ending”

Long-running Halloween star Nick Castle, who has played the murderous Michael Myers since 1978, has teased a “surprising” story and an unexpected ending to the slasher legend in this year’s Halloween Ends. Directed by David Gordon Green, Halloween Ends will wrap up the franchise and the feud between The Shape and Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode, which was of course reignited in 2018’s legacy sequel, Halloween.

“I think there might be more because of all the success of [this trilogy], but [Green] will have a very surprising storyline, an ending for everyone. It’s absolutely something I don’t think you would have ever guessed in terms of the way it’s going to unroll.”

But what could this “ending for everyone” that is also something that you would never have guessed involve exactly? Speaking at a panel during the recent Steel City Con April 2022 (shared courtesy of Fandom Spotlite), Castle gave nothing away regarding what will happen in the final moments of Halloween Ends, but did tease the quality of the conclusive sequel.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“My good friend James Jude Courtney, he’s doing 99% of the work in the last three movies as Michael Myers and doing a wonderful job I think,” Castle said during a recent panel appearance at Pittsburgh’s Steel City Con. “I just saw he was over at the editing room where they’re completing the first cut of Halloween Ends with David Gordon Green, of course, as the steward of the ship. It sounds like it should be pretty good.”

Castle even revealed that he does indeed appear in another “little cameo” during Halloween Ends, and confirmed that the movie will bring the franchise to an end. For now, at least. “…the end, at least, of the David Gordon Green version of Halloween” will be ushered in by Halloween Ends, he added.

While plot details for Halloween Ends remain largely unknown at this time, it has been revealed that the sequel will take a time jump from 2018 to the present day. Director David Gordon Green has previously teased some of what to expect from Halloween Ends, describing it as a coming-of-age story. “There’s not a lot of games in it, there’s not a lot of wittiness and retro joy,” the filmmaker said. “It’s kind of a coming-of-age film, and it’s a very different tone. And that’s what excited me about it, is to have the three chapters that I’ve been involved in be very different from each other. They are all there to honor Carpenter, but aren’t necessary just emulating him.”

This admission that Halloween Ends is a coming-of-age tale could suggest that Andi Matichak’s character Allyson Nelson, the granddaughter of Laurie Strode, could play a big role. Which would make sense considering the shocking ending of Halloween Kills. Could Allyson’s role in the story play into the sequel’s unexpected ending?

Starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Nick Castle, James Jude Courtney, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, Kyle Richards, and Omar Dorsey, Halloween Ends is scheduled to be released on October 14, 2022, by Universal Pictures.
