Story (7,5/10)

Teresa and Alex say goodbye to Charles, who is flying back home after the holidays. At the airport, Alex challenges her to be clear about her “duties”. Teresa is evasive, which speaks volumes for Alex. However, Teresa’s worries are given an unexpected respite when the annual exhibition for the legendary “Rainbow Shogun” television series is taking place. Teresa is able to persuade Tada to accompany her there – not realizing that Tada has to face his greatest fear there. But the biggest surprise is yet to come for the friends in the photo club when Teresa and Alex suddenly seem to have disappeared from the face of the earth…

Personaly thinking (Warning, spoilers!)

As with many other series, “Tada Never Falls in Love” has the feeling that the last few episodes are over far too quickly. This can be understood as praise and criticism at the same time. It can be positively emphasized that the finale of the RomCom sometimes offers very emotional moments. It is only after Teresa’s abrupt journey home that Mitsuyoshi realizes that during their time together, more than just feelings of friendship have developed for the girl from Larsenburg. There is also a certain amount of tension in the final episodes, since Mitsuyoshi finally takes the initiative himself. This is an important step in his character development considering his past.

On the other hand, I was a bit disappointed by the fact that none of the introduced “side romances” were brought to an end. For example, Hajime never finds out that his worshiped idol Hina is actually his schoolmate Hinako. This raises the question of why this subplot was introduced in the first place. Nothing moves between Yui and Kentaro until the end either. Apart from the two main characters, only the fat tomcat Nyanko seems to have found his great love with the cat lady Cherry. This isn’t much of a consolation for me though, since I tended to like the scenes with Nyanko the least.

Apart from this point of criticism, however, the anime offers a thoroughly successful ending. In terms of the main romance, this doesn’t come with any nasty surprises and should probably fulfill the wishes of most viewers.

Animations (7/10)

The 13-part series was in the studio Doga Kobo produced. Similar to my two previous reviews, I can still state that the drawing style of the series is kept rather simple. The color palette is also a bit too bright for my taste. However, as is well known, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so you should make up your own mind based on the screenshots and trailer (no pun intended). The drawn sequences of movements are also completely sufficient for the genre.

Music (8/10)

In the episodes of the last volume, it is noticeable that particularly emotional passages were deliberately worked entirely without music. A scene in Mitsuyoshi’s room is presented in a particularly memorable way by means of an intentionally loud ambient noise, since the silence between the dialogue lines comes to the fore. This created a stronger effect than would have been possible by inserting a piece of music.

However, this does not mean that the episodes completely do without a musical accompaniment. In the scenes that play in Larsenburg, you can hear a more European sound character with accordion sounds. I welcomed this short change in the instrumental line-up.

German localization (8/10)

The anime was dubbed at GlobaLoc GmbH in Berlin with Philip Suess directing the dialogue; Tom Sielemann wrote the dialogue book. In the course of the episodes, I noticed a few minor mistakes in the mixing of the German soundtrack. Several times it was forgotten to make Rachel’s voice muffled when she was standing behind a closed door. I’m frankly a bit disappointed with this, as I would have expected more attention to detail from the studio here.

Fortunately, apart from that, the dubbing hardly gives cause for criticism. The speaker cast also delivers its work at the same level in the last few episodes. Only the point of criticism from my last review, that Teresa’s speaker Julia Bautz tends to speak in a slightly too high batch, remains.

Packaging & Extras (5/10)

As with the reviews for Volumes 1 and 2, the evaluation of the packaging design is unfortunately omitted at this point, since we only had a check disc for the review. However, there are no physical extras included with the third volume anyway. And the digital extras are also quite meager: the disc itself only contains “extended previews” for the episodes it contains. In addition, no German dubbing was given to these, which is why the overall assessment of the extras is rather sobering.

Conclusion

With the third volume of «Tada Never Falls in Love», KSM Anime concludes the German release of the series. With regard to the story, a positive balance can be drawn overall. To better than other genre representatives such as “Toradora!” In my opinion, however, the overall package is far from enough to cut it off. So the anime is quite nice entertainment for romance fans, but the title will not necessarily leave a lasting impression.
