“Sword of the Wizard King Movie Delayed”

The upcoming Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King movie will now premiere in Japanese theaters and on Netflix on June 16 instead of March 31. The official statement cites the impact of the spread of COVID-19 on the production as the reason behind the postponement.

The movie will also feature Houchou OotsukaMiyuki Sawashiro, and Fumiya Takahashi as former Wizard Kings Edward, Princia, and Jester, respectively.

The staff includes Ayataka Tanemura (Black Clover second half, Fuuto PI assistant director) as director, Johnny Onda (Black Clover: Yuno no Sho light novel author) and Ai Orii as scriptwriters, Itsuko Takeda (Black Clover) as character designer, and Minako Seki (Black Clover) as music composer. Studio Pierrot is the animation production studio.

The Black Clover anime series ran from 2017 to 2021 with Tatsuya Yoshihara (Chainsaw Man action director) directing the first half and serving as chief director for the second. The main cast includes Gakuto Kajiwara as Asta, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Yuno, Junichi Suwabe as Yami Sukehiro, and Kana Yuuki as Noelle Silva.
