#KonoSuba 3rd Season Confirmed, Main Staff and Studio Revealed

“KonoSuba 3rd Season Confirmed, Main Staff and Studio Revealed”

Back in July 2021, it was announced that there will be a new Konosuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World! anime. Now, it has been confirmed at a special livestream event on May 28 that the new project is the third season of the series.

Main staff details and a visual for Konosuba Season 3 were also revealed at the event. Reprising their roles are Kouichi Kikuta as character designer and Makoto Uezu as series composer, while Yuujiro Abe (Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Season 1 and Season 2 episode director) is taking over directing duties. Previous director Kanasaki Takaomi is involved with the new season as chief director.

While the first two seasons (from 2016 and 2017 respectively) were produced by Studio Deen and the KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World Legend of Crimson movie (from 2019) by J.C.STAFF, Konosuba Season 3 is produced by Drive.

The four staff members and Drive are also involved in the anime adaptation of the Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! spin-off, which was announced at the same livestream event. Reprising their roles are Jun Fukushima as Kazuya, Sora Amamiya as Aqua, Rie Takahashi as Megumin, and Ai Kayano as Darkness.

The isekai comedy light novels written by Natsume Akatsuki and illustrated by Kurone Mishima ran from 2013 to 2020 with 17 main volumes and two short story anthologies. It is published under the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko label.

Yen Press describes KonoSuba as:

Game loving shut-in Kazuma Sato’s life as a young schoolboy in Japan abruptly comes to an early end…or at least it was supposed to. When he opens his eyes, though, he sees a beautiful goddess that offers him a once in an after-lifetime chance to be reborn in a parallel world. The catch is that the world is violent and threatened by a growing evil! Fortunately, he can choose any one thing to bring with him. So he chooses the goddess, Aqua! And so his adventure with his gorgeous companion begins–if he could just get enough money and food to survive, keep his goddess out of trouble, and avoid grabbing the attention of the Demon King’s army!

The light novels have inspired a manga adaptation by Masahito Watari and several spin-offs, while the anime led to the release of several KonoSuba video games. The story began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2012.
