A 34-year-old woman was found dead in a garbage chute in a Staten Island apartment building, police said.
The body of Lisa Hernandez was discovered by authorities at about 2:30 p.m. Friday inside the chute, near the third-floor of the building at 937 Victory Boulevard near Highland Avenue in Silver Lake, according to cops.
She was positioned feet-down, and appeared to have been trapped in the chute by her shoulders, FDNY sources said. Bags belonging to her were also discovered near the body.
EMS rushed her to Richmond Hospital but she could not be saved, authorities said.
A first-floor neighbor in the building, which is surrounded by a golf course and cemetery, reported hearing a woman screaming for help at about 11:45 a.m. Friday, sources said.
It was not immediately clear if that woman had been Hernandez.
