Subaru has confirmed that its first all-electric vehicle, the Solterra SUV, will make its U.S. debut next week at the LA Auto Show. Since the initial announcement in May and a few teaser images, we haven’t seen much of the vehicle, but that’s about to change.

Along with the announcement, the company released a teaser image of the Solterra out on a muddy dirt road, and we’ll learn all about the 2023 Solterra EV at the LA Auto Show on November 17th.

The Subaru Solterra is named after the Latin words for “Sun” and “Earth,” representing Subaru’s goal to deliver an environmentally-friendly SUV for the masses. And while we’ve only seen teaser images so far, those that don’t want to wait for the LA Auto Show can get more information on November 11th, when the car gets shown to the world for the first time in Japan. That reveal is available from the YouTube link below.

While Subaru has confirmed the EV comes out sometime next year, it is a 2023 model year vehicle. Fans and potential buyers can watch the video above from Japan, but we’re expecting more information about the U.S. release date, pricing, EPA ratings, and more when it’s revealed in Los Angeles next week.

It’s worth noting that the Solterra shares a similar overall look to Toyota’s BZ4X Electric crossover vehicle, with a few changes to the front and rear to match some Subaru styling. In addition, Toyota’s variant comes on two options — a 201hp, single-motor front-wheel-drive configuration or a 215hp, dual-motor AWD flavor. Both versions include a 71.4 kWh battery, which we believe will also power the Subaru.

That said, we’re still expecting a few surprises when Subaru takes the stage on November 17th, as the company may make additional tweaks to the specs, features, or power once it arrives. We’ll report back once we know more.
