“#Watch a trailer for Questlove’s concert documentary Summer Of Soul”
The award-winning film captures the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival.
Back in February, Questlove debuted his documentary Summer Of Soul (…Or, When The Revolution Could Not Be Televised) at the Sundance Film Festival. The movie unearths lost footage of the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, also known as the “Black Woodstock,” which saw acts like Stevie Wonder, Sly & The Family Stone, and Nina Simone all perform. Soon after its debut, Summer of Soul took home two coveted Sundance prizes: the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize. Now, the picture finally has a trailer ahead of its July 2 release date on Hulu and in theaters. If you miss sweaty outdoor shows as much as I do, circle that date in your calendar and watch the trailer above via Exclaim!.
