#Starbucks barista gets more than $57,000 in donations after ‘Karen’ shames him

Donations have topped $57,000 for Lenin Gutierrez, a barista who stood up to a woman when she refused to wear a face mask at the San Diego Starbucks where he works.

Califonia law requires anyone who goes out in public to wear a face covering, even if they go to a restaurant or cafe.

But when Gutierrez refused to serve customer Amber Lynn Gilles, she posted a photo of him on Facebook along with a snarky message,  reports People.com.

“Meet lenen [sic] from Starbucks who refused to serve me cause I’m not wearing a mask … Next time I will wait for cops and bring a medical exemption,” she posted.

Her Facebook post backfired.

A GoFundMe “tip jar” popped up within hours, commending Gutierrez for standing his ground.

“Raising money for Lenin for his honorable effort standing his ground when faced with a Karen in the wild,” reads the Fund’s description.

Gutierrez, who is an aspiring dancer, had been working as a dance instructor before the coronavirus hit.

“I can fuel my passions even better now. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for it. It’s just amazing to see that I can actually make these dreams of pursuing more into dance a thing now. Thank you so much for it.” Gutierrez said in a Facebook video.
