Snoop Dogg is one of the most successful rappers and entertainers in pop culture, but according to the Cali lyricist himself, he wouldn’t have gotten to where he is if a man named Mr. Collins didn’t believe in him when he was a student at Long Beach Polytechnic High School.

The “Gin And Juice” rapper took to Instagram on Friday (May 20) to shout out his old high school mentor, who he referred to as “Cool Breeze,” after the pair reunited backstage at an event.

“Mr. Collins aka cool breeze. Poly high 89. This man helped mentor me thru high school,” the rap legend wrote on Instagram. Thanks Mel.”

Snoop Dogg’s recent nostalgic reunion brought to mind Cardi B, who in 2018 visited her old P.S. 128 Elementary School in the  Washington Heights neighborhood and reunited with her first-grade teacher Yvette Coporan, who was still teaching there.

Needless to say, Tha Doggfather has come a long way since his high school days. The rap icon recently became the new owner of Death Row Records, and while on the Full Send Podcast revealed a guest verse would now cost an artist $250,000 for 16 bars, a price that increases if they expect him to pop up in their music video.

“You’ll get about 16 bars,” he said. “And when it’s time to do the video, I need to get another $250,000 up out of you. And you only got an hour so get to filming.”
