Aniplex announced today that Hiro’s seinen manga Akebi-chan no Sailor-fuku / AKEBI’s sailor uniform, which has been serialized in Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump website since August 2016, will get its TV anime adaptation.

The manga tells a slow, sparkling coming-of-age story of the protagonist Komichi Akebi and her classmates in a prestigious girls’ junior high school. The author Hiro’s soft drawing touch has gained a lot of support from both men and women. The first volume got reprints before it went on sale, and the series’ total print run has already surpassed 500,000 copies. Its highly-anticipated latest eighth volume is set to be released on April 19, 2021.

Miyuki Kuroki (The [email protected] SideM) serves as the director of the TV anime adaptation, alongside the series composition/script writer Rino Yamazaki (DARLING in the FRANXX) and the character designer Megumi Kouno (The [email protected] Cinderella Girls). CloverWorks (Fate/Grand Order – Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia) works on anime production.

The 30-second concept movie that was released at the same time as the announcement shows the protagonist Komichi Akebi running freely over the greenery, waving her hands towards viewers in the beautiful nature.
