Shawn Mendes finally sets the record straight about those romance rumors with Sabrina Carpenter!

For those who don’t know, speculation has been circulating that the pair were dating ever since they were caught on a “date” at the restaurant Horses in Los Angeles last month. Social media gossip account DeuxMoi revealed the news from an anonymous source at the time:

“Sabrina was in a little brown mini skirt and clearly was Shawn newly shaved head wearing white sweater. they were verrrrry comfortable”

Shawn and the 23-year-old singer fueled the rumors when they were spotted out together again! They were seen leaving the album release party for Miley Cyrus’ Endless Summer Vacation at the Gucci store in Beverly Hills together earlier this month. Then at Vanity Fair’s Oscars Party on Sunday, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the 24-year-old musician wore a green pendant necklace with his all-black suit – which matched Sabrina’s emerald birthstone. He also supposedly has been wearing that necklace since January, one month before the duo was romantically connected.

So based on the evidence, fans were convinced that Shawn and Sabrina are an item! But sadly, we have some bad news for anyone who’s been shipping them together. It sounds like the romance rumors are just that… rumors! While promoting his partnership with Tommy Hilfiger, Shawn shut down the speculation that he’s been seeing Sabrina during an interview with the Dutch TV program RTL Boulevard on Friday, saying:

“We are not dating. But I think we should talk about Tommy Hilfiger probably more than Sabrina. Thank you.”
