#This farmer moonlights as a drag queen

Farming isn’t such a drag for this drag queen.

An enterprising UK performer, who goes by “Boo La Croux” on stage, spends his days focusing on agriculture, but his free time on drag culture.

“I absolutely love drag and horse riding so it has been nice to focus on my two passions,” Dean Goodwin-Evans, 35, told Caters. The Herefordshire native’s daily routine consists of cleaning the stables, feeding the 13 horses and six chickens (and then collecting their eggs) and cutting the grass.

“Fortunately, we can put the Shetland ponies on parts of the land who will help with cutting the grass,” explained the drag-riculturalist, adding that the “hard work” is ultimately rewarding as he’s caring for appreciative animals.

When he’s not working the land, Evans is — you guessed it — working it for the camera, hosting virtual drag shows and mastering his sewing machine.

“Every day includes an element of drag as I love trialling new looks,” gushes the country boy, who spends his downtime “making outfits and styling wigs.”

“I’m always switching up my looks and practising makeup,” he said.

Despite being a “very sociable man as a hairdresser and a drag queen,” Evans told Caters that being around his animal “saviors” has helped him cope with the depression that began during the first nationwide lockdown last spring.

“I’ve never suffered from mental health issues before but it was a massive shock to the system,” he said. “They’ve [the animals] given me something to focus on and a reason to get up in the morning.”

Farming’s also been Evans’ main source of income since last March — despite the fact that he’s a trained hairdresser. Crafting “dresses and accessories” from scratch helps the self-proclaimed “thrifty queen” keep his cost of living low.

However, although country living may look good on him, the quarantining drag queen ultimately hopes that lockdown will lift soon.

“I just can’t wait to get back on stage and strut my stuff,” said Evans.
