The Glynn County Police Department on July 15 requested that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation launch a sex crimes probe based on allegations made against William “Roddie” Bryan Jr., First Coast News reported Tuesday.
A fact sheet of the investigation obtained by the TV station lists the type of case against Bryan as “child abuse/molestation,” and notes the alleged incident took place in Camden County and that the victim was a white female.
The GBI said no other details or documents related to the case are available at this time because it’s an ongoing investigation.
Bryan is accused of striking Arbery, 25, with his truck during the February attack. He also videotaped the shooting on his cellphone.
He is charged with malice and felony murder along with the other two suspects — former cop Greg McMichael and his son Travis McMichael.
The death of Arbery, a black man who was killed on Feb. 23 just outside the coastal town of Brunswick, became a touchstone in the nationwide protests over racial and social injustice.
The men charged in his murder, who are white, have pleaded not guilty.
