Discotek Media announced a whole slate of new licenses and upcoming releases at their Otakon 2022 Japanese Anime Industry Information Session on Saturday, including upcoming releases of the Urusei Yatsura TV series, Symphogear XV, the new dedicated tokusatsu label Toku Time and more.

 

Announcements made during the panel are in alphabetical order.

 

Dino Mech Gaiking: 44 episode release on one SD-BD disc, with clean OP/ED and promo videos included. Scheduled to release in late 2022.

 


 

City Hunter – Movies and Specials Collection: Six films and TV special Blu-Ray release, including Magnum of Love and Fate (AKA .357 Magnum), Bay City Wars, Million Dollar Conspiracy, The Secret Service, Goodbye My Sweetheart (AKA “The Motion Picture”), The Death of Evil Ryo Saeba. Release will include the ADV dubs, with the exception of Evil Ryo Saeba which is subtitled only. Scheduled to release in early 2023.

 


 

Legend of Dinosaurs and Monster Birds: New HD transfer under the new Toku Time label. Vintage Frontier Enterprises dub included, as well as original trailers. Scheduled to release in late 2022.

 


 

Machine Robo: Battlehackers: 31 episode release on one SD-BD for the first time with English subtitles, including vintage toy commercials. Scheduled to release in late 2022.

 


 

The Princess and the Pilot: License rescue from NIS America, with minor tweas from the previous release. Scheduled to release in late 2022.

 


 

Project A-ko 3: Cinderella Rhapsody: New HD scan from the original negative release with new liner notes and “Get A Chance” music video extras included. Scheduled to release in late 2022.

 


 

Space Sheriff Gavan: 44 episode release in HD, for the first time with English subtitles under the new Toku Time label. Extras include a reunion interview with lead actor Kenji Ohba and director Osamu Kaneda, photo gallery and historical essay by Mike Dent. Scheduled to release in October 2022.

 


 

Sherlock Hound: New HD transfer release based on the Japanese version, with all new restorations of the English version. Extras includes the rare English dubbed pilot episode, liner notes, art gallery and restored promo clips. Scheduled to release in late 2022.

 


 

Symphogear XV: Subtitled release of the final season of the Symphogear series. Extras include the omake episodes, clean OP/ED as well as a video of the premiere event. Scheduled to release in early 2023.

 


 

Tales of Symphonia The Animation: Two disc release which includes all eleven episodes with English subtitles. Scheduled to release in late 2022.

 


 

To Be Hero and To Be Heroine: Release including both series on one disc, including the omake episodes of To Be Heroine. Features include revised subtitles, Chinese dialogue tracks and songs re-translated directly from the Chinese. This release in particular is noted to be only 2,000 units. Scheduled for release in October 2022. 

 


 

URUSEI YATSURA TV (1981-86): All 195 episodes to be released across four box sets, with English subtitles based on the AnimEigo translations. No extras, including existing dubs, are planned to be included. Scheduled to release starting in 2023.

 


 

Additionally, prior to the Discote panel, the dub cast for the upcoming Gunbuster release was announced, with a scheduled release of late 2022. The cast and staff include:

  • Cristina Vee as Takami Akai
  • Nola Klop as Linda Yamamoto
  • Kai Kennedy as Masanori Kikuchi
  • Dub production: Sound Cadence Studios.
  • ADR Director: Marissa Lenti
  • ADR Writer: Natalie Van Sistine

 


 

The panel also announced details for the Japanese version release of Shaman King (2001) with an AstroRes upscale coming later in 2022, as well s Cat’s Eye Season 2 coming in late 2022.
