The bikers said they innocently pulled into a cul-de-sac in Spotsylvania to plan a route home Sunday when they were confronted by the armed local, who was filmed aiming the rifle at them for almost five minutes.
“I’m gonna take you out first,” the local, Dennis Lee Berry, warned the group as they calmly pleaded for him to lower his weapon.
Berry said he had already called the police on them for being on private property, refusing to believe their claims that they missed the signs.
“Evidently you didn’t look hard enough,” he told them, adding, “I hope y’all gonna get arrested.”
The motorcyclists also called police, with one of the group heard saying, “Parked my bike over here to take a break real quick, got a white guy out here pointing a gun at four black men.”
Another was heard telling Berry, “We’re unarmed, I’m on the phone with the cops — and you’re still pointing a gun.”
Berry was later arrested for brandishing a firearm, the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
He was taken to the Magistrate’s Office, where he was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
The AR-15 rifle was also seized as evidence in the case, the department said. It was not immediately clear if it had been loaded at the time.
Brandon Foster, one of the group threatened, said Berry had his “weapon aimed at us the entire time” as he posted a video of the exchange.
“Be careful out there. It’s a crazy world we live in,” Foster said.
