#Phil Spencer Addresses Nintendo Switch Game Pass Rumors
In these past couple of months, the gaming world has been frenzied with tons of rumors around the Xbox Game Pass. Tracing back to the roots of these rumors, multiple insiders started to report that Microsoft and Nintendo were going to collaborate and work together to bring forth Nintendo Switch services. This collaboration would mean that doors to various possibilities would open. However, Phil Spencer crushed these rumors, in an interview with GamesRadar.

“We have no plans to bring it to any other kind of closed platforms right now, mainly because those closed platforms don’t want something like Game Pass. There’s a ton of open platforms out there for us to grow in: the web, PC, and mobile. So all of our focus, frankly, is on those platforms.”

In a parallel universe, Microsoft is instead working to bring Game Pass to several open platforms (PC and Mobile), which can be attained through streaming because xCloud services allowed Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to stream Xbox games to other devices. So, the good news is that players require a fast Internet connection and a controller. Thus, this makes Game Pass accessible to a plethora of audiences,s and bringing it to PlayStation or Switch is off Microsoft’s priority list.

However, this is not the first time that Spencer has refused the alleged rumors of Game Pass coming to Switch. Microsoft has been stirring up rumors in multiple instances, like when Nintendo Switch consoles made cameos in the background of Microsoft live streams. It would be, however, quite interesting to see Xbox Game Pass on Switch, in an era where other companies have wholeheartedly accepted cloud gaming on the platform.

But whether Nintendo wants Game Pass on the system is a different tale altogether. Needless to say, Nintendo wants fans to purchase games for the Switch as it boosts company profits and if fans are willingly paying a one-fee for getting the Game Pass subs, they are also getting unhindered access to a variety of titles. Naturally, they are bound to spend more time playing Xbox games, rather than Nintendo games.
