#Ryan Reynolds Gets Canadian Capital Street Named After Him

Ryan Reynolds has over the years grown from a young up-and-coming star into one of Canada’s most recognized and renowned actors, having appeared in many big-budget movies such as Deadpool, Detective Pikachu and Free Guy. Now he is being honored in his home country by having a street named after him in the capital city of Ottawa, where he briefly spent part of his youth. Both Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, are heavily involved in charity work, and along with millions raised for the likes of the Chicago-based Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights, as well as Feeding America and Food Banks Canada, they have also donated generously to charities in Reynolds’ old hometown.

In recognition of the work Reynolds has done to help fight hunger during the Covid pandemic, Mayor Jim Watson posted the news on Twitter that one of Canada’s capital’s streets will now be known as Ryan Reynolds Way. In his post, he wrote, “It’s clear that Ottawa has a special place in Ryan’s heart – and in his honour, I’ll be bringing forward a motion later today to have a street named after him. Ryan Reynolds Way will be located in a new subdivision in the east end. Look forward to seeing it open soon.”

Of course, Reynolds responded with his usual humorous style, saying, “This is an incredible honour and a deal is a deal, Mr Mayor…I’ve changed my daughter’s name to “Ottawa.”

Reynolds Has Always Supported His Home Country Through His Humanitarian and Charitable Efforts

As one of the biggest stars in Hollywood right now, Ryan Reynolds has made sure that everyone knows where he came from and has made a conscious effort to see that he gives back what he can to the country he hails. In the last month, Reynolds announced the staggering $850,000 raised through this years’ ugly sweater campaign, which was donated to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children, while last year he and his wife gave $250,000 to Influence Mentoring, a group that offers support to Indigenous students in a bid to eliminate employment and educational gaps.

After completing filming on his upcoming Christmas movie Spirited for Apple TV+ at the end of last year, Reynolds announced that he was taking a sabbatical from acting, but with a handful of films already just released or on the way soon, it is hardly going to be noticeable that the star has been on a break. His next movie, The Adam Project, is heading to Netflix in March, and follows hot on the heels of his 2021 hits Red Notice and Free Guy. Additionally, Reynolds has not let his break get in the way of his usual interactions on Twitter and Instagram, having shared posts of his current whereabouts and advertisements for his various brands.

Once he returns from his sabbatical, many fans will be hoping that he will have some news to share about where he is with Deadpool 3, the first movie that will see the Merc with the Mouth debuting in the MCU. Considering his arrival has been teased for a while now, this is probably top of the actor’s priority list if he doesn’t want to find an angry mob of Marvel fans arriving at his door.
