#The Girl from the Other Side Kickstarter Reaches Stretch Goals, Will Receive Bonus Short Anime

The official Twitter account for the upcoming OVA for Nagabe’s The Girl from the Other Side: Siúil, a Rún manga announced that its Kickstarter campaign reached its final 20,000,000 yen (~US$183,800) stretch goal. As a result, Wit Studio will adapt Nagabe’s weekly illustrations into a 30-second bonus anime.

Additionally, the campaign page states that the additional anime short will be in a style similar to the original manga’s art style. The feature-length OVA will be bundled with a spinoff volume of the manga and will be released on March 10, 2022. The campaign ended on Sunday, and raised 22,670,343 yen (~US$208,357). 

The anime’s staff includes Yutaro Kubo and Satomi Maiya (The Girl from the Other Side short film) as directors, scriptwriters, and character designers, Yūsuke Takeda (Great Pretender) as art director, Takeru Yokoi (Magical Girl Ore) as photography director, and Shouji Hata (Great Pretender) as sound director. Club jazz trio Schroeder-Headz will compose the music. The animation production will be from WIT Studio.

The anime’s cast includes Jun Fukuyama as Sensei and Rie Takahashi as Shiva.

The manga’s first volume was published in March 2016, while the tenth and latest volume was published in October 2020.

Kinokuniya describes the story as:

In a world split between the Inside and the Outside, those living in both realms are told never to cross over to the other side. A young girl named Shiva lives on the other side, in a vacant village with a demonic guardian known only as “Teacher.” Although the two are forbidden to touch, they seem to share a bond that transcends their appearances.
