A runaway horse managed to stirrup a police response as it sauntered around Staten Island this week, officials said.

“Quit horsing around!” the NYPD’s 120 Precinct tweeted. “Our Officers quickly responded to a Runaway Horse that broke loose from its owner. Luckily the horse couldn’t outrun our fast acting Officers who reunited the horse back with its owner safely. Great job!”

The chestnut mare snacked on grass, trotted down Ward Avenue and eventually made its way to the Goodhue Community Center, near Lafayette Avenue in Stapleton around 6 p.m. Wednesday, the Staten Island Advance reported.

The horse was not with its owner, according to the report.

Officers ultimately corralled it by 6:18 p.m., authorities told the Advance.

The horse was returned to her home just after 7 p.m., according to the report.

It’s unclear whether the horse was a mare known as Morgie whose owner, Abdul Elenani, made a local name for her two years ago with their daily jaunts, including to a Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru.
