#Trump campaign’s plan to steal Democratic National Convention thunder

President Trump’s re-election campaign plans to hijack the virtual Democratic National Convention — flooding the internet with millions of dollars worth of ads and sending Trump to Joe Biden’s hometown to troll the Democratic nominee.

In an attempt to steal Biden’s thunder before he formally accepts his party’s crown, Trump 2020 has purchased ad space on YouTube, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post and the Fox News websites where they will run banners across the home pages, one campaign official confirmed.

According to a report by the New York Times, the four-day digital blitz is expected to cost up to $10 million and was made possible because the Democratic Party changed the dates for the convention and forget to buy new ad slots.

The campaign will also dispatch the president and his surrogates to key battleground states, including Pennsylvania, as a distraction to the four-day virtual gathering of Democrats which kicks off Monday night.

Trump will be spend the week on a swing state tour through Minnesota, Wisconsin and Arizona which will end on Thursday in Scranton, Penn., Biden’s hometown.

The president won the state by less than 50,000 votes but Biden leads in the state by 6.4 percentage points, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average.

Trump is slated to visit Old Forge on Thursday afternoon where he will speak at a kitchen cabinet manufacturing business.

According to a Politico report, he will also hold a rally in nearby Scranton to needle Biden’s record just hours before the Democratic nominee is slated to deliver his convention speech via video link.

Trump 2020’s plans to derail the virtual DNC come as more Republicans join former GOP Ohio Gov. John Kasich is crossing the aisle to appear in the opening night festivities.

According to an Axios report, ex-New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman, former New York Rep. Susan Molinari and 2010 California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman will also take the virtual stage in a display of the anti-Trump movement.
