#RTLZWEI shows “mysterious” «Sailor Moon» opening

Since last Sunday, «Sailor Moon» has been broadcast again on RTLZWEI. And the station is using a mysterious intro from the 00s.

The joy in the community is great! Since September 1st (every Sunday at 11:10 am, three episodes in a row) RTLZWEI namely the third season of “Sailor Moon”, which has not been shown on free TV for almost 10 years, is finally being broadcast. To the surprise of many fans, RTLZWEI is using an intro song that has almost been forgotten in the recent past.

Not heard for almost 20 years

It is the track “Fly through the clouds”, which was last released in January 2005 (!) was shown on German television. According to information from the “Sailor Moon” community, it is still one of the most mysterious anime intros of all time in Germany. Firstly, the opening track does not come from Toyco (Andy Knote), as is usual for anime series from the RTLZWEI anime era, nor is it from the Super Moonies. To this day, it has not been conclusively verified who produced the opener.

Does only RTLZWEI hold the rights to the opener?

Also interesting: The intro is only used in the TV broadcast by RTLZWEI. If you want to watch the current episodes after they have been broadcast on RTL+, you can see “Sag das Zauberwort”. The opener has also never been released on DVD or Blu-ray and was not shown in broadcasts of “Sailor Moon” on Sat.1 (2001), VIVA (2014) or Sixx (2019). So it seems that only RTLZWEI owns the rights to the track. The intro remains a real mystery in the German anime scene for even longer.
