#Rothy’s April sustainable collection perfect for summer 2021

The San Francisco-based direct-to-consumer fashion brand Rothy’s is debuting its new sustainable line just in time for Earth Day on April 22.

The collection, which debuts on Tuesday, April 13 at noon EST, features all-new, super soft, and lightweight sandal and bag silhouettes — The Wrap Sandals, The Pail Bucket Bag, and The Rope Tote — geared for warm weather and summer 2021.

Like all Rothy’s products, these new eco-friendly items are 100% crafted from discarded plastic water bottles and marine plastic.

In 2020, 14,734 study participants in 55 countries found 346,494 pieces of plastic waste that didn’t make it to a trashcan or landfill; 63% of the refuse gathered still had a clearly marked label or logo and were added to the global report titled “BRANDED Vol III: Demanding Corporate Accountability for Plastic Pollution,” in which US-based brands dominated the list.

In all, 5,000 brands from around the world were cataloged.

What sets this brand apart: Rothy’s has repurposed nearly 100 million plastic water bottles and 100 pounds of marine plastic to date. The brand also recently committed to achieving circular production by 2023.

Here’s how they do it: Rothy’s diverts plastic bottles from landfills and transforms them into their signature thread, which they then knit into durable, washable and sustainable styles like shoes, bags and accessories.

The brand’s strobel boards (also known as the green part of the shoe under the insole) and the footbeds of their sandals use an algae-based foam. Harvesting harmful algae from waterways helps to keep the marine ecosystems in balance and makes for extra-sturdy shoes.

Another sustainable aspect that sets Rothy’s apart is the fact they knit their products to minimize production waste. Their construction results in 30% less material waste than traditional cut-and-sew methods.

Another added perk? All Rothy’s products are completely machine-washable so whenever your items need a little pick-me-up, just toss them in your next load of laundry and they’ll be good as new!

Rothy's The Pail Bucket Bag

The Pail is the chic and trendy beach bag you won’t want to put down this summer. It comes in three different pastel colors: yellow, blue and green. It’s designed with a organic linen and cotton interior lining and of course made with 100% recycled materials. It also comes with warm gold hardware and a rope-made handle that makes the bag easy to wear on the shoulder or by hand.

Plus, The Pail has a large exterior pocket for small necessities and the main compartment features a drawstring closure in for added security.

Rothy's The Wrap Sandal

The Wrap sandals from Rothy’s are comfortable, fun and versatile. They’re available in four shades, black, beige, navy-blue and a fun coral and turquoise combination called “Picnic.”

These sandals are made with Rothy’s signature thread spun from plastic water bottles and the soft footbed is made with plant-based materials. The long ankle straps can be tied however you’d like to style them. They’d go great with your go-to denim jeans and flowy white shirt, your favorite sundress and everything in between.

Rothy's The Rope Tote

The Rope Tote is another fun summer bag you may not be able to resist. It’s extra spacious and durable, with room to carry everything you need for any excursion. It comes in a creamy white, with bright yellow lining on the interior or sky blue, with white piping that features sand-colored lining on the interior, made from organic linen and cotton.

The roomy main compartment was designed with a drawstring closure in sky blue for safe keeping and the interior zippered front pocket with stylish gold hardware to keep your essentials right where you need them. There’s also an interior back pocket compartment for easy access to your lip balm, sunglasses and other essentials.
