#Rescue dog who lost her puppies adopts a trio of orphaned kittens

A pregnant pooch lost her puppies -– and ended up with three kittens.

Georgia, an Australian Shepherd mix, had a tough go. The Sunshine Dog Rescue rescuers found her — expecting — at a gas station in Arizona, not far from the US-Mexico border. She delivered early — not one of her little ones lived. Grief overwhelmed her.

“The best way I could describe it was she was frantic,” rescue founder Anita Osa told ABC15 news station. “It was so sad, she was looking for those babies. She tore up the toddler mattress we had her on, trying to find her babies.”

Osa put out a call for help on Facebook, looking for any animals that needed a lactating mom. Three kittens landed in her lap.

“I introduced them to her gently. I first bought one out and let her sniff it, and she seemed to accept it, so I brought the others out. It’s amazing to see how she instantly calmed down,” Osa said. “It’s really something to see, she protects those kittens just as if they were her babies.”
