“Re:cycle of the Penguindrum Reveals Part 2 Visual and Release Date”

The Re:cycle of the Penguindrum movie has revealed a key visual and July 22 release date for its second part, which is titled Boku wa Kimi wo Aishiteru. The visual depicts main characters Kanba Takakura, Shoma Takakura, Himari Takakura, and Ringo Oginome with the younger versions of Kanba and Shoma.

The first part, Re:cycle of the Penguindrum: Kimi no Ressha wa Seizon Senryaku, premiered on April 29 in Japan. The two-part movie is described as a reconstruction of 2011’s Penguindrum that also features new scenes.

Like the 2011 series, the staff credits includes Kunihiko Ikuhara as director, Terumi Nishii as character designer, Lily Hoshino as original character designer, Kunio Tsujita as color designer, Studio Kokoro’s Chieko Nakamura as art director, Graphinica’s Takeo Ogiwara as photography director, and Yukari Hashimoto as music composer. Penguindrum episode director Nobuyuki Takeuchi is serving as assistant director for Re:cycle of the Penguindrum: Kimi no Ressha wa Seizon Senryaku, while animator Tomomi Kawatsuma is the movie’s other character designer. However, Lapin Track is the animation production company instead of Brain’s Base this time (Lapin Track was founded by former Brain’s Base members).

Meanwhile, the returning cast includes Subaru Kimura as Kanba Takakura, Ryouhei Kimura as Shouma Takakura, Miho Arakawa as Himari Takakura, Marie Miyake as Ringo Oginome, Akira Ishida as Keiju Tabuki, Mamiko Noto as Yuri Tokikago, Yui Horie as Masako Natsume and Esmeralda, and Yutaka Koizumi as Sanetoshi Watase, and Aki Toyosaki as Momoka Oginome. Sumire Uesaka joined the cast as the penguin Princhupenguin.

HiDive describes the series as:

Is destiny a matter of chance or a matter of choice? All Kanba and Shouma know is that to keep their terminally ill sister Himari alive they must find the mysterious Penguindrum.
