#’Rebel’ Adds ‘Timeless’ Star Abigail Spencer in a Recurring Role, Plus Meet the Cast (PHOTOS)

The star power of the new ABC drama inspired by Erin Brockovich’s life — Katey Sagal plays legal advocate Annie “Rebel” Bello (who doesn’t have a law degree) — continues to grow.

Abigail Spencer (Reprisal, Timeless) will recur in Rebel, ABC announced on February 25. She’ll play Misha, “a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon who has a painful romantic history with Nate (Kevin Zegers),” Rebel’s son and a doctor. However, as her character description continues, she “can’t resist getting involved with studying the Stonemore heart valve for fear that she may have inadvertently harmed hundreds of patients.” Find out more about the Stonemore heart valve in the trailer below.

The series, created by Krista Vernoff (Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19), follows the titular character, described as “a funny, messy, brilliant and fearless woman who cares desperately about the causes she fights for and the people she loves. When Rebel applies herself to a fight she believes in, she will win at almost any cost.” It also stars John Corbett as Grady Bello, James Lesure as Benji, Lex Scott Davis as Cassidy, Tamala Jones as Lana, Ariela Barer as Ziggy, Sam Palladio as Luke, and Andy Garcia as Cruz.

Previously announced recurring stars include Mary McDonnell, Dan Bucatinsky, Adam Arkin, Mo McRae, and Daniella Garcia.
