#Rays’ Kevin Cash makes ‘scary’ Yankees threat after Aroldis Chapman fiasco

Tampa Rays manager Kevin Cash appeared to threaten the Yankees on Tuesday following his team’s 5-3 loss at the Stadium, as the rivalry soared to new heights.

Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman in the ninth inning threw a 101 mph fastball that went behind Mike Brosseau’s head, causing the benches to clear once the final out was recorded.

“It’s absolutely ridiculous,” Cash said. “It was mishandled by the Yankees, certainly the pitcher on the mound. … Enough is enough, we’re talking about a 100 mph fastball over a young man’s head. It makes no sense.

“It’s poor judgement, poor coaching, poor teaching. … I got a whole damn stable of guys that throw 98 mph.”

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Cash’s comments were “scary” but would not comment further.

Chapman fanned Brosseau to end the game after he and both teams were warned.

The Yankees and Rays have accused each other of headhunting in the past, and tensions have continued to escalate with each team battling for AL East supremacy. Tampa Bay is in first place and is 3 ¹/₂  games up on the Yankees.
