#Rashida Jones to be named MSNBC president

MSNBC is set to name Rashida Jones as its next president, making her the first black executive of a major cable news network, a report said Monday.

Jones, currently serving as the senior vice president of MSNBC News, will take the reins in February, succeeding longtime head Phil Griffin, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources familiar with the shake-up.

Griffin, who has been with the network for 25 years, will depart at the end of January, the report said.

MSNBC did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the broadsheet.
