#Rachel Brosnahan pulls ‘drowned rat’ out of toilet

Even movie stars have to contend with New York City’s awful vermin problem.

In a remarkably chipper Instagram post, actress Rachel Brosnahan shared that she recently retrieved a “drowned rat” from the bowels of her toilet.

“New York, I love you,” the star of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” wrote Tuesday along with a photo of herself masked, in a beanie, holding what appear to be two plunger handles fashioned into a large chopstick-like device.

“Stay safe out there folks and let’s please look out for each other as this new wave moves through our ranks,” the 31-year-old Wisconsin-born entertainer continues. “In other NYC news, today I pulled a drowned rat out of our toilet.”

The post has racked up over 31,000 likes since being posted, as well as comments from plenty of supportive celebrities as they offer their condolences to Brosnahan in her time of strange toilet presences.

“NO,” wrote actress Zoey Deutch.

“Noooooooooooo,” commented artist Adrienne Warren.

“NO NO NO NO NOOOOO,” added singer Jessica Keenan Wynn.

Brosnahan’s nightmarish experience comes amid the city’s own nightmare, at a time of surging COVID-19 rates — as well as an increase in rat sightings. The city’s rodent population has reportedly surged during the pandemic, with 311 receiving more than 21,000 calls about rats during a period this November. During the same period in 2019, they received 15,000 calls.

Even the boroughs’ toniest neighborhoods are not safe.

The current coronavirus surge, meanwhile, is wreaking havoc across the city, with many New Yorkers waiting in hours-long lines just to get tested for COVID-19.

“I’m cold and frustrated. We are in such a big city, there should be more options available,” Alessandra Abate, 29, a graduate student from Dumbo who had been in line for two hours told The Post last week. “It’s literally impossible over the weekend to find a place.”
