California detectives determined it was a possible cleaning cloth, not a tampon, that was found inside an off-duty LAPD cop’s Starbucks drink last month — and were reportedly unable to prove the store employee acted maliciously.

The case into the alleged incident at a Starbucks in Diamond Bar, Ca. was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and will now be reviewed by Los Angeles County District Attorney’s, FOX 11 reported.

“Based on the evidence available at this time, the item in the drink was possibly a cleaning type cloth commonly used by store employees,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said in a police report obtained by the outlet.

“The investigation was unable to prove malicious intent on the part of the store employee,” Villanueva wrote.

Villanueva said detectives reviewed store surveillance footage and interviewed the employee and officer.

The LAPD cop, 36, had filed a police report claiming he found a tampon in a frappuccino that he purchased using his police union debit card at Starbucks located in a Target.

Sources from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department told FOX 11 that the barista admitted to scooping a cleaning cloth that had fallen and unwittingly blending it into the officer’s drink.

The worker was apologetic, sources told the outlet.
