Nevada vaulted Trump over the 1,276-delegate threshold needed to win the nomination to a second four-year term, but for some unclear reason, Nebraska’s 36 delegates were snubbed during the roll call.
The president will travel to Charlotte later Monday to appear before the delegates.
Earlier, Vice President Mike Pence was nominated unanimously as Trump’s running mate by former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker at the Charlotte Convention Center, where about 336 delegates appeared in person.
Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the House minority leader, made the nomination official.
“I am proud to announce the vice president, Michael R. Pence, has the unanimous support of this convention to be the Republican Party’s nominee for the office of vice president of the United States of America,” McCarthy said.
Speaking to the crowd in Charlotte, Pence thanked delegates for the honor to chants of “Four more years.”
“The economy is on the ballot, law and order is on the ballot, our most cherished ideas are on the ballot, which is why we need to re-elect President Donald J. Trump,” Pence said.
Both Trump and Pence are traveling Monday in North Carolina and could pop into the convention center. The RNC continues through Thursday night, when Trump will give his acceptance speech at the White House.
