The 5th-anniversary celebrations of Pokémon Go are not over yet, but they have received a new turn. With the Halloween season looming large, Pokémon Go is set to introduce players to new events and bring back returning events. Several events are scheduled for the spooky month, where players can take part in Rid battles, catch Pokémon in Halloween costumes and purchase PokéCoin. In addition, a crossover event is set to release across the globe for Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle.

Research Breakthrough encounters will be available for Yamask, the ghost Pokémon, from the 1^st of October till the 1^st of November. Cofagrigus, the powerful evolved form of Yamask can also be acquired in this period.
Special PokéCoin bundles can be purchased every Monday in October at the store with just a single PokéCoin. While the entire contents of these special bundles are not known yet, they will include one Remote Raid Pass. The Halloween event will return to Pokémon Go from the 15^th to the 31^st of October, where Pokémon will be available in costumes and can be caught in the wild.

Niantic has also reduced the distance required to spin Pokéstops in light of feedback from players. Players will be able to have quite a bit of fun during the month of October, which is going to be a busy one!

RAIDS

Several 5-star raids will be available throughout October, where players will have the chance to obtain Legendary and Mythical Pokémon. In addition, Raid Hours are scheduled for each Wednesday from 6 PM -7 PM local time. This will feature specific Mythical Pokémon. The details of the raids and the Pokémon set to appear in them are given below.

Mega Raids

Gengar – Will appear from the 1^st of October at 10 AM local time to the 22^nd of October at 10 AM local time. Mega Gengar will not be available in the Raid Hours.
Absol- Will appear in Mega Raids from the 22^nd of October, 10 AM local time to the 5^th of November 10 AM local time. Mega Absol will not be available in Raid Hours.

Five-star Raids

Mythical Pokémon Genesect – Holding Douse Drive, will appear in five-star raids from the 1^st of October at 10 AM local time to the 12^th of October at 10 AM local time. Shiny encounters are not available as Genesect is not available as Shiny. Genesect’s Raid Hour will be on the 6^th of October.
Altered Form Giratina – Will appear in five-star raids from the 12^th of October at 10 AM local time to the 22^nd of October at 10 AM local time. This will include a chance for Shiny encounters. Altered Form Giratina’s will be featured in the Raid Hours on the 13^th of October and the 20^th of October.
Darkrai – Will appear in five-star raids from the 22^nd of October at 10 AM local time to the 5^th of November at 10 AM local time. Will know Sludge Bomb, and there is a chance for Shiny encounters. Darkrai’s will be featured in the Raid Hour on the 27^th of October.

Spotlight Hours

The month of October will also feature Spotlight Hours that will happen every Tuesday from 6PM – 7PM local time. In line with the Halloween theme, this will feature four spooky Pokémon and special bonuses.

Drifloon – Available on the 5^th of October. Players will be able to earn 2x of XP if they evolve the Pokémon during this hour.
Gastly – Available on the 12^th of October. Players will be able to earn 2x the Stardust if they catch Pokémon during this hour.
Gothita – Available on the 19^th of October. Players will be able to earn 2x of XP if they catch Pokémon during this hour.
Murkrow – Available on the 26^th of October. Players will be able to earn 2x the XP if they evolve Pokémon during this hour.

A Community Day event will also take place on the 9^th of October from 11 AM to 5 PM local time. This will feature Duskull, the ghost-type Pokémon. Players will be able to find Duskull more often in the wild. In addition, if players evolve Duskull during, or up to two hours after the Community Day event, they will get a Dusknoir with the Charged Attack Shadow ball. A Special Research Story related to Community Day will be available for $ 1, but will not include a completion medal.

CROSSOVER EVENT

To celebrate the release of Pokémon The Movie: Secrets of the Jungle on the 8^th of October, a crossover event has been planned. Zarude, the Mythical Pokémon, will be available during the Special Research event only. Jessie and James from Team Rocket will make an appearance in Pokémon Go. In addition, Niantic has planned a special event on the 6^th of October to celebrate its birthday. Players who log in on the 6^th will receive a free box! Check out the trailer for the movie below.
