#PlayStation Takes Over Akihabara's Kanda Myojin Shrine for Launch Celebrations

PlayStation 5 x Kanda Myojin

As the PlayStation 5 rolls out around the world – even with delays in stores for some countries – celebrations began in full, with the Japanese celebrations being conducted in the heart of Akihabara's own Kanda Myojin Shrine, the same shrine that features in TV anime such as Love Live! School Idol Project and Steins;Gate!

Kanda Myojin Shrine is just one of the locations around the world that is being used for the PlayStation launch, but with a 1,300-year history, the shrine is likely one of the oldest locations lit up in the signature blue color that will be seen on the next-generation console. The trademark symbols found on the Dualsense lit up the path towards the shrine, illuminating the area in a sea of blue.

The PlayStation 5 launched in Japan on November 12 alongside launches in North America, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, with the rest of the world getting (if there's stock) the console on November 19.
