#Pilot Movie For Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song- Released

WIT Studio has released the pilot movie for its Spring 2021 anime Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-.

The dialogue-less pilot includes scenes of Vivy facing off against the series’ Estella and Yugo Kakitani, as well as a scene of Vivy writing a song inside the Archive.

The pilot movie was previously mentioned in a roundtable discussion published on the anime’s website, where the series’ music composer Satoru Kōsaki was mentioned to have “started off by composing a song for the pilot film.” However, the publicly released pilot features instrumental music instead of the “ballad” that the roundtable mentions.

The pilot’s staff includes Vivy director Shinpei Ezaki as the storyboarder and unit director and character designer Yūichi Takahashi as the animation director. The key animator credits include Takahashi, Vivy Ep 4 and 9 action director Masahiro Tokumaru, Vivy Ep 6 co-animation director Haruka Yamauchi, and the series’ assistant director Yūsuke Kubo.

Elsewhere, Graphinica’s Sapporo studio is credited for the photography, Busy Bees Animation Inc. for the 3DCG, and Bamboo, Studio RUFUS, and Takashi Honda (Fragtime art director) for the backgrounds. Additionally, the series’ special effects staff Ryōko Mita and Manaka Naka serve the same role for the pilot.

Vivy received a mostly positive review from Anime Trending’s Gracie, who praised the story, animation, soundtrack, and performances but criticized the final arc and disappointing villains. The anime is also a nominee for multiple categories for the 8th Anime Trending Awards, including Anime of the Year, Music Anime of the Year, and Best in Animation.

The series is set in the future and follows the titular Vivy, a singer at the NiaLand AI theme park who is the world’s first autonomous humanoid AI. One day, she is approached by an Ai called Matsumoto who claims to be from 100 years in the future. According to Matsumoto, a war between AI and humans will occur after a century, and Vivy has to help him avert the conflict by changing history.
