Last year’s Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime has received a new illustration that depicts main characters David and Lucy chatting happily at a restaurant counter with cup noodles in their hands. In the background, Maine can be seen watching over the two lovebirds.

The illustration is meant to commemorate the recent release of Nissin’s Cup Noodle Negishio (onion and salt), which is the specific flavor shown in the image. Hagano Yoshifumi (Cyberpunk Edgerunners prop designer and animation director) drew the illustration with painting from Yukiko Kakita (Cyberpunk Edgerunners color designer) and backgrounds from background art company Bihou.

The Cup Noodle Negishio also received a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners-inspired trailer that uses the anime’s opening song, “This Fffire” by Franz Ferdinand.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was released on Netflix on September 13, 2022 with 10 episodes. The story follows the street kid David who, after a certain incident, encounters the mysterious netrunner Lucy and becomes part of a group of cyberpunks. The anime is inspired by the 2020 open world RPG Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt Red, which is in turn based on the tabletop RPG by Mike Pondsmith.

Hiroyuki Imaishi (Promare, Kill la Kill, Gurren Lagann) directed the show with Masahiko Otsuka (Promare, Gurren Lagann) as assistant director and Yoh Yoshinari (BNA: Brand New Animal and Little Witch Academia director) and Yuuto Kaneko (BNA: Brand New Animal animation director) as character designers. Yoshiki Usa (Working Buddies! series composer) and Otsuka served as scriptwriters.

Other staff include Cyberpunk 2077 Business Development Director Rafał Jaki as showrunner and executive producer, Bartosz Sztybor as narrative director, and Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill video game series) as music composer. Trigger is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the cast includes KENN as David, Aoi Yuuki as Lucy, Hiroki Touchi as Maine, Michiko Kaiden as Dorio, Takako Honda as Kiwi, Wataru Takagi as Pilar, Tomoyo Kurosawa as Rebecca, Kazuhiko Inoue as Faraday, Yurika Hino as Gloria, and Kenjiro Tsuda as Ripperdoc.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was the Best Original Screenplay winner in our 9th Anime Trending Awards. It was also nominated for Best Animation, Best Character Design, and Best Sceneries and Visuals.
