#Pelosi slams Trump’s ‘very wrong’ idea to deliver convention speech at White House

WASHINGTON — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday said it was “very wrong” for President Trump to suggest he would deliver his convention speech from the White House.

“Whether it’s legally wrong or ethically out of the question, it shouldn’t even have been something that was expressed,” Pelosi told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell.

“For the President of the United States to degrade once again the White House, as he has done over and over again, by saying he’s going to completely politicize it, is something that should be rejected right out of hand,” the California Democrat continued.

With a raucous in-person Republican National Convention cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Trump earlier Wednesday said he was considering formally accepting the nomination at the White House.

“I’ll probably do mine live from the White House,” Trump said Wednesday during a “Fox & Friends” interview, calling it the “the easiest, least expensive and I think very beautiful” option.

But he also said he’d be open to having the event somewhere else to avoid any controversy.

“If for some reason somebody had difficulty with it, I could go someplace else,” he said.

Both parties have been forced to all but cancel their conventions this year amid health concerns from COVID-19, with Democrat officials on Wednesday also announcing that Joe Biden would accept the nomination from his home state of Delaware.
